# Like Me — Privacy Policy

Like Me ("the App") is developed by Violet Eyes ("we", "us", "our"). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when merchants install and use the App on their Shopify store.

## What data we collect

### From shoppers (store visitors)

- **Anonymous identifier**: A randomly generated UUID stored in the shopper's browser (localStorage). This is not personally identifiable information.
- **Product like data**: Which products a shopper has liked or unliked, and when.
- **Email address**: Only if the shopper voluntarily enters it in the liked-items drawer. This is optional and never required.

### From merchants (store owners)

- **Shop domain**: Your myshopify.com domain, used to associate data with your store.
- **Access token**: A Shopify API access token used to sync customer data and retrieve product information. Tokens are encrypted at rest and expire after 60 minutes.

## How we use data

- **Product like data** is used to display liked items to shoppers and to provide analytics to merchants (trending products, daily stats, shopper activity).
- **Email addresses** provided by shoppers are used to create or update Shopify Customer records when the merchant triggers a sync. Customers are tagged with the products they liked for use in the merchant's own marketing tools.
- **Anonymous identifiers** are used solely to track which products a specific browser session has liked. They cannot be used to identify a person.

## How we store data

All data is stored in Cloudflare D1 (a SQLite-based database hosted on Cloudflare's global network). Data is associated with the merchant's shop domain and is not shared between stores.

Access tokens are stored encrypted and automatically refreshed. Expired tokens are replaced; old tokens are not retained.

## Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. Data is only accessible to:

- The merchant who installed the App (via the admin dashboard)
- The shopper whose browser holds the anonymous identifier (via the liked-items drawer)

## Data retention

- **Product like data** is retained as long as the App is installed. When a merchant uninstalls the App, their data remains in the database but is no longer actively used. Merchants may request deletion by contacting us.
- **Email addresses** are retained until the merchant requests deletion or the App is uninstalled.
- **Anonymous identifiers** exist only in the shopper's browser localStorage and are not controlled by us. Clearing browser data removes them.

## Merchant obligations

Merchants are responsible for disclosing the use of this App in their own store's privacy policy, including the collection of optional email addresses and the use of anonymous identifiers for product interest tracking.

## Shoppers' rights

Shoppers can:
- **View** their liked products at any time via the liked-items drawer.
- **Remove** individual likes from the drawer.
- **Clear all data** by clearing their browser's localStorage.
- **Decline** to provide an email address — the App works fully without it.

## Children's privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App does not require or encourage the submission of personal information from any user.

## Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
